Skin Problems At Every Age

Skin problems arise as early as adolescence, and as we age, our skin will change, aging and adapting to our bodies and our environment.  Below are some of the skin worries that may arise during different stages of our life:

Youth to Young Adult – Age 13 to 20

The above problems are general examples of what can happen during different periods of our lives. And depending on factors such as age, lifestyle, and diet, one or a combination of the following steps may be needed.

 

 

 

Prevention

Prevention can only happen when the problem is still in its early stages. This is before it becomes a permanent issue. It is very important to start early when signs are beginning to show.

Example: 

Excess oil: When an adolescent has excess oil on their skin, their skin wills how signs of shininess, dullness, and prone to breakouts. If untreated properly, acne can lead to scars and the excess oil can lead to large pores.

Protection:

Protection, as we hit maturity our lifestyle changes, and the life that we lead may have physical consequences, and at this time, prevention of further problem development is crucial.

Example:

 Dry Skin: Fine dry lines will occur from dry skin, and if not properly treated, deep wrinkles will visualize.

Correction:

Correction usually happens once the problem has already occurred, and it has not been taken care of. At this time, it will take time and resource to correct and return the skin to a balanced, healthy skin.

Example:

Pigmentation: Sun damage is one cause of pigmentation. Excess exposure to the sun that reaches under the epidermal (surface layer of the skin), causes sunspots. To correct this problem, the following methods or combination of methods may be required: laser treatment, regular facial treatments, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion.
